Shapes Theme
Below you will find some projects and activities centered around a "Shapes Theme." This theme page is designed to be a one day theme for younger children... Kind of a mini-theme. Parents or caregivers, will find it easier to craft with their kids if they work around a central theme. Things will be more organized, and you won't have as much trouble coming up with ideas. In addition, you can plan out a few days ahead of time what you want to do with your child.
Theme Projects, Printables, and Recipes
Shape Stamping
Dip differently shaped objects into paint and stamp onto paper. You could use paper cups for circles, heart cookie cutters, blocks, etc.
Stained Glass Shapes
Cut any shape out of card stock or thin cardboard. (cereal boxes work well) Cut a second shape inside the first, making a shaped frame. Try to make this frame as thin as possible. Paint frame black. While the paint is still wet, stretch colored plastic wrap over the opening in the frame. Let dry. This should create a stained glass looking shape.
Paper Ice Cream Cones
Cut a long triange out of brown construction paper to be the cone. Cut a couple of circles of different colors of construction paper to be the ice cream. Cut a small red circle to make a cherry. Glue your ice cream cone together: triangle, circle, circle, cherry.
Shape Collage
Cut different shapes out of a variety of colors of construction paper. Glue onto another piece of construction paper to make a shape collage.
