Pets Craft Ideas

Below you will find some projects and activities centered around a Pets Theme. Keep in mind that this theme page is really aimed at younger children, up to about age 5. Don't be fooled into thinking that these projects and activities are too simple for this age group. Young children thrive on simplicity - it gives them the opportunity to work independently, to understand the task at hand, and to "own" their work. Immersing them in projects and activities that center around a particular theme allows them to gain a greater understanding of the theme and internalize it.

For parents or caregivers, working around a theme makes it easier to craft with your kids. Things will be more organized, and you won't have as much trouble coming up with ideas. In addition, you can plan out a few days ahead of time what you want to do with your child.

Paper Plate Fish Bowl - Cut the top of a paper plate into a very shallow U so that it looks like a fish bowl. Draw fish shapes on the plate with crayons. Use watercolors to paint the plate blue. The crayon resists the color and makes a pretty fish bowl.

Cat Puppet - You'll need this template, crayons, scissors, and 5 brads. Print out and color the picture. Cut it out. Attach the arms, legs, and tail at the X with brads.

Pet Rocks - Find a rock about the size of child's fist and wash it. Paint it any color desired and let dry. Paint on a face or glue on wiggle eyes. Glue on yarn for hair and anything else you happen to have around the house to make a pet rock.

Foot-long Ears - Stamp children's bare footprints using different colored stamp pads or washable paint. Direct them to make a print of both of their feet on butcher block paper. Cut each footprint out in the shape of a bunnyrabbit's ear. Attached to the top of a paper plate. Add a bunnyrabbit's face with markers and pipecleaners for whiskers. Display on the bulletin board advertizing "Bunnies with Footlong Ears." ~ Submitted Anonymously

"Puppy Chow"Serve Chex Mix in cereal bowls or even a clean (new unused) dog bowl.

Everyone knows something about something...
You can turn that knowledge into a profitable internet business.

That's what I did with children's crafts and here's what I used!
