Mister Sun

Below you will find some projects and activities centered around the children's song "Mister Sun." This theme page is designed to be a one day theme for younger children... Kind of a mini-theme. Parents or caregivers, will find it easier to craft with their kids if they work around a central theme. Things will be more organized, and you won't have as much trouble coming up with ideas. In addition, you can plan out a few days ahead of time what you want to do with your child.

When my son first turned 2, he asked me to sing this song and "You Are My Sunshine" to him every morning whenever he saw "Mr. Golden Sun" for the first time. He just turned 3 and he doesn't call the sun "Mr. Golden Sun" anymore, but I still sing it to him sometimes, even if he doesn't ask. They grow up so fast... this theme was born out of the nostalgia of those magical mornings.

Mister Sun

Oh Mister Sun, Sun, Mister golden Sun
shine down on me.
Oh Mister Sun, Sun, Mister golden Sun
Hiding behind the trees

These little children are asking you
To please come down so they can play with you
So Mister Sun, Sun, Mister golden Sun
Please shine down on me

Theme Projects, Printables, and Recipes

Paper Plate Sun

Cut triangle shapes out around the edge of a paper plate to form the sun's rays. Paint yellow and let dry. Glue on wiggle eyes (or draw them) and draw nose and mouth with black marker.

Handprint Sun - Using poster paint have your child make hand prints in a circle pattern on some paper. The palms need to touch and the fingers need to be spread apart. If preferred, you could cut a construction paper circle to cover the palm area when dry. The result is finger-shaped sun rays around a sun. ~ Submitted by Heather

Edible Sun

Tint cream cheese yellow and spread on half an english muffin. Use skinny pretzel sticks to make sun beams. You could also do this with some kind of yellow jam. I've done it with orange marmalade before.

Top your theme day off by reading a great book!

Everyone knows something about something...
You can turn that knowledge into a profitable internet business.

That's what I did with children's crafts and here's what I used!
