Groundhog Day Crafts
Groundhog Day Puppet - One of my children brought this home from Kindergarten and I thought it was cute. The kids cut out a construction paper groundhog (brown of course) and glued it to a large popsicle stick. Then they used a lunch-sized brown paper bag to make his hole. They rolled down the ends of the paper bag about half way, then cut a small hole in the bottom of the bag. Push the end of the popsicle stick through the top of the back and through the hole. Now the kids can pull the groundhog down into his hole (the bag) or let him peak out. My kindergartener spent a long time playing with this little puppet and completely wore it out.
Groundhog Day Hat - Print out the free hat pattern. Cut it out. Cut extra strips of card stock the width of the hat to add more length. Write at the bottom of the hat what the groundhog predicts in your area. Will there be six more weeks of winter or is spring here? Tape or staple the hat together to fit on your head.
Groundhog Toilet Paper Roll Craft - A cute idea, but it really doesn't look like a groundhog to me. I'm sure kids will love it though!
Groundhog Day Bookmarks - These are cute. All you have to do is print them out, color, and cut out. Then they fit over the top of a book page.
