Itsy Bitsy Spider
Below you will find some projects and activities centered around the children's song "Itsy Bitsy Spider." This theme page is designed to be a one day theme for younger children... Kind of a mini-theme. Parents or caregivers, will find it easier to craft with their kids if they work around a central theme. Things will be more organized, and you won't have as much trouble coming up with ideas. In addition, you can plan out a few days ahead of time what you want to do with your child.
Itsy Bitsy Spider
The itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout.
Down came the rain and wash the spider out.
Out came the sun and dried out all the rain.

Theme Projects, Printables, and Recipes
Thumprint Spiders
In one corner of a plain sheet of construction paper, draw a spider web with a marker. Use a black washable stamp pad or black paint and have your child put a thumbprint on the paper. Draw on the legs(8), eyes, etc. and connect the spider to the rest of the web.
Paper Plate Sun
Cut triangle shapes out around the edge of a paper plate to form the sun's rays. Paint yellow and let dry. Glue on wiggle eyes (or draw them) and draw nose and mouth with black marker.
Spider Webs
Cut several pieces of yarn in various lengths. Use white glue (like Elmer's Glue) and make a spider web pattern on a piece of construction paper. Let child glue yarn onto the paper to form a spider web.
Edible Sun
Tint cream cheese yellow and spread on half an english muffin. Use skinny pretzel sticks to make sun beams. You could also do this with some kind of yellow jam. I've done it with orange marmalade before.
Top your theme day off by reading a great book!
