Father's Day Crafts
Puzzle Card - This is one of the easiest and most fun greeting cards to make. Purchase a blank puzzle
and draw a Father's Day picture on the front of it with markers. When your picture is complete, break the puzzle apart and put all the pieces in an envelope and seal it. It's a blast to see the look on Dad's face when he opens the envelope and pours out the pieces. Depending on how skilled the card's artist is, it make take Dad awhile to put his Father's Day card together... giggle, giggle!
Helping Hands Booklet - Cut 2 pieces of white construction paper in half (short ways) and do the same with a colored piece of paper. On each of the white pieces have the child stamp their hand with paint. Let dry. On one of the colored pieces of paper write "Dad's Helping Hands" and decorate it as desired. This is the cover. Line up all the pages with the cover on top, the other colored piece on the bottom, and all the handprint pages in between. Staple down the side to make the booklet. You can decorate it more if you want, but your child will probably be ready to move on at this point.
It might be a good idea before you present the booklet to Dad to talk to your child about all the things they can do to help Daddy out around the house. The hands in the booklet act like coupons whenever Dad wants to ask the child for a "helping hand." You can tell Dad to tear out the pages like coupons if you want, but that would destroy my kids if Dad tore pages out of his gift.
Make Dad Cookies - This sounds like a simple idea, but you can make it as easy or as complicated as you like. When I was a child, each year on Father's Day I would give my Dad a tin of homemade peanut butter cookies. They are his favorite and it became a tradition at our house.
Rocky Paper Weight - This is kind of a take-off from the pet rock idea. Find a rock about the size of child's fist and wash it. Paint and decorate it any way desired and let dry. This is an easy craft project for any age!
I'm Hooked On You Daddy - Cut out a large fish shape from construction paper. Glue a picture of the child on one side of the fish and on the other side write, "I'm Hooked On You Daddy!" Don't forget to date it.
You're The Best Dad I Ever Saw - Cut out a large hand saw from construction paper. Glue a picture of the child on one side of the saw and on the other side write, "You're The Best Dad I Ever Saw! Date it.
Picture Frames - There are about a million and one different kinds of picture frames that you and your child can do for Father's Day. Try dressing them up in a theme that reflects Dad's hobby and take a picture. Then make a frame that fits the theme, like fishing, golf, etc. I was a picture frame once that was made for a Father's Day gift that had a picture of the child holding a dinosaur. The frame was a simple dinosaur shape cut out of poster board and a caption reading "You're a Dinomite Dad!"
Father's Day Survey - One of the best Mother's Day presents I ever got was a piece of paper that listed some questions and the answers my child gave about me. I've adapted the same idea for the questions below. You can use some or all of the questions or make up your own. You could put these questions and the child's answers inside a card or laminate them along with a picture or handprint of the child.

Football (US-Soccer) Card - Cut out large white circle and get child to stick it onto folded coloured A4 sheet of card - then cut out 5-sided pentagon shapes out of black paper and get child to stick them onto white circle to make a football. ~ Submitted by Jeanette from England
Golf Card - Get child to tear stripes of green paper and stick them onto folded coloured A4 sheet of card as "grass" - make a flag by cutting off short piece of a straw and stick to card with sticky tape and a colured triangle of card for the "flag". For the final touch stick on a ball shaped sweet (you can buy small circle chocolates where the wrapping is coloured like a football) ~ Submitted by Jeanette from England
Soap on a Rope - Make daddy a soap on a rope as a wonderful present - In England we have a product called LUX PURE SOAP FLAKES not sure what your equivalent is??? (must be pure soap flakes not detergent) also need length of cord or plated piece of wool. Using small cup measure out 4 parts in volume of soap flakes to one part in volume of tepid water. Mix initially with a spoon and then use fingers... if desired can add few drops of food colouring/perfume at this stage (my daughter insisted dad wanted a PINK soap on a rope!!)- finally tie cord in loop with a large knot and mould the "soap" around the knot (the knot helps hold the soap in the moulded shape). Leave to dry on a piece of foil for 2-3 days - one soap on a rope to give to daddy!!! ~ Submitted by Jeanette from England
