"Edible" Log Cabin
Another super-simple President's Day craft project. This isn't something that kids will be able to keep, but it's a fun little project that will let them play with their food!
You'll Need:
- A piece of green paper
- A piece of brown paper
- A bag of large Pretzel Rods
What to Do:
1. Lay a sheet of green paper down on the table. This is the grass to build your log cabin on.
2. Open up the bag of pretzel rods and begin building your cabin with them.
Lay the rods down on the green paper in a criss-cross fashion to form a square cabin.
3. When you've built it as high as you want, fold a brown piece of paper in half, open it up, and put it on top to make the cabin roof.
Variations:
Older children could use the pretzel rods to make a much more sophisticated cabin. They can carve notches into the rods with a plastic knife to make them fit together better, cut them to make doors and windows, etc. The pretzels will work much the same as lincoln logs.
You could use hot glue to glue the pretzels together and make a permanent cabin project. White glue would also work, but it would take a long time to dry.
This would also make a good cooperation project if you has teams of children work together to make their cabins... then dismantle them for snack!
